A Coding Weekend: One Albania Supports Future Talent

On a warm May weekend — like the one we just had on May 2–4 — there were two choices: chase the sun’s golden rays or follow the pull of passion for algorithms. For the 400 young minds who kept the Pyramid buzzing until 4 a.m., the decision was easy. For them, technology and innovation aren’t just thrills — they’re a calling. That calling took shape in an energetic 48-hour hackathon right in the heart of the capital: JunctionX Tirana.

JunctionX Tirana 2025 wasn’t just an event for tech enthusiasts — it was a magnet for ambition and talent, drawing some of the brightest programmers and coders from Albania, the Balkans, and beyond. At the heart of this whirlwind of ideas and energy stepped One Albania, as part of this momentum.

Beyond financial support, One Albania contributed to the third edition of JunctionX Tirana as a partner in curiosity. This year, we challenged young participants to design a digital dashboard tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises — a smart, unified platform to help businesses manage their telecommunications infrastructure and streamline services.

But this wasn’t just about code. It was about critical thinking. What does a platform that consolidates services in real-time look like? The answer came from the winning team, 2-Bit, whose solution stood out for its sleek, secure interface. Their prototype gave SME managers the power to control services, optimize costs, and act fast. Simplicity, security, and strategy — all in a single dashboard.

Sonila Profili, Chief Information Technology Group Officer at One Albania, addressed the 400 hackathon participants with a reminder to see the deeper value in the experience, beyond prizes and applause, toward the lasting impact of innovation.

“We often forget that progress doesn’t just happen somewhere else. It happens here. In Albania. In Tirana. And this weekend, it came from inside the Pyramid. Innovation doesn’t live in departments or the most sophisticated equipment; it originates from people. It doesn’t trickle down from the top — it starts in rooms like this. With people like you. This hackathon is a microcosm that reveals how real innovation happens: under pressure, under curiosity, under necessity, driven by the belief that there’s always a better way to do things.”

At One Albania, we believe in the bold, in the innovators who dare to change the game. From investing in 5G to creating spaces like the One Connect Hub, where young minds can build, belong, and thrive, we stand firmly with the next generation.
